You did not say what you want to do in the park. Tourist thing, hike,climb,look at busloads of japanese visitors? I advise you to get the AAA lodging book. Beatty NV is close, Panamint resort is quiet and tranquil, and furnace creek has advantages also, but more people.Lone pine is a drive but a nice town to visit and great view of Mt.Whitney. Enjoy your visit!
