the common thinking of today is the Wades traveled Wingate pass, not the Wade escape route.
I think they most likely went over wingate pass as they needed to get west. There is no proof I have ever heard that they went south east to get out west. I would love to travel over Wingate pass to get a look at the lay of the land. Plus I would also like to see anything that is left of the monorail. :-)
