I'll step up on the soap box in defense of Nevada.
In Nevada the gubberment may own most of the land, but I find a lot less "no tresspassing" signs and more "please close the gate" signs along the backcountry dirt roads .
Thats better than the new topo maps that Dezdan mentioned. The desert roads, as defined by government, just stopping at wilderness boundaries?
You can see the road with your eyes and its not on our map??
