As far as road closures go, there are two websites you can check for real time closures.

For the State of California: http://www.dot.ca.gov/hq/roadinfo/

For Nevada: http://www.nevadadot.com/traveler/roads/

Go to these web sites and check for closures. Hope this helps and have a great time.
