What's Copper Canyon?

Hi all,

Just found this web site. Back in early May, my brother and I got pulled over by a pretty nasty ranger for hiking up an alluvial fan. He would not tell us what was up there. We saw some nice looking red rocks. When we got up there, we saw an old sign that said "closed area". We decided to turn around and some ranger that looked like he wasn't old enough to vote told us there were "sensitive resources" up there. He treated us like we were climbing the fence at the White House! We asked some guy at the hotel what was up there. He didn't know, but said it was called Copper Canyon. Can anybody tell me what the big deal is?
