Last year, leaving South Park, we stopped at Ballarat and came across Louie and two DVNPS Rangers. I was with the Friends of the Briggs (FOB) Cabin and they (Rangers) asked if they (FOB) could do something about that corner. They even said it was scary and that this would probably be their last trip with the Suburban. We looked at a few months afterwards and determined that not much could be done with out blowing away some of the wall to widen it. I know we would never get permission to do this. Today, it seems that the fencing is pulling away from its foundation and seems to be taking support rock with it. I think with one good rain storm, that corner and all its fill will be washed away, thus closing this route until repairs can be done. This is just my opinion.
I will be up there again with Tom W. in a few weeks and will take a drive up there to check this out and to see what can be done to stabilize this corner. I’ll let you all know!
