I know the section to which you speak of. You were almost to the mini valley before the section with the bridge, at about 1.51 miles from the bridge. Last August I helped spot a 4wd Stock Chevy S10 (rental, hehehe ) up that canyon to the very spot in which you stopped. Even in four low we could not get traction, as at that time it was very dirty with lose stuff everywhere. We ended up just hoping into another bigger 4wd we had a long and caravanned up. After last summer storm, that lose stuff was washed away and replaced with a lot of rock. My guess is that the area is 'dirty' and thrashed up again from people trying to make it up. How did you make it back down the hill? Did you fix you clutch or did you just force it into gear? Also, be aware in case you did not know that just after the Bridge the area becomes Death Valley National Park where no green stickered vehicles are allowed. So don't get caught ;-)
