Hi birders,
Thursday, August 7, 2002
Bird trip to Porter Peak
Altitude: 7000'
Duration: 7:00am to 11:35 am
Owner: In question between person that was born there and the BLM.
Observer: Jack Walters
Comments: lots of apples on the trees, which means lots of bird in
September.
Birds:
1. Warbling Vireo 4
2. Western Kingbird 2
3. Western Wood-peewee 1
4. Western Flycatcher 1 immature
5. Gray Flycatcher 1
6. TOWNSEND'S WARBLER 1 IMMATURE FEMALE
7. Yellow Warbler 2
8. Red-tailed Hawk 2
9. American Kestrel 1
10. Rufous Hummingbird Female
11. Bullock's Oriole 2
12. Western Tanager 6
13. Black-headed Grosbeak 1
14. House finch 25
15. Black-throated Sparrow 3 immature ***Have you ever noticed
that the Black-
throated is much smaller than a Sage Sparrow ( about an inch in length)
16. Brewer's Sparrow 1
17. Chipping Sparrow 3
18. Brow-headed Cowbird 5
19. Sage Sparrow 1
20 Horned lark 70 on the road out in Sage Valley n my way back from the
Amargosa Desert, I stopped at Crystal Springs before comming home.
