Most of the NPS vehicles are actually leased from the General Services Administration (GSA). They pay a monthly fee and a nd per mile charge. Every month the mileage of all the vehicles is reported to GSA so they can figure how much you owe. If a government licence plate number starts with a small 'G' then iy's a GSA vehicle and it is leased. If you happen to see one that starts with an 'I' then it is a Department of yje Interior vehicle and is owned by the NPS. Just in case you're interested...
