Here's good one, but not funny:
A couple of years ago, following a high speed chase and an exchange of gunfire, some skinheads with automatic weapons were holed up in the salt flats behind Harmony Borax Works. Hundreds of cops were there, including hi-tech infra-red seeking planes from DEA.

After the psychos shot down a helicopter, guess who's job it was to don night goggles in the dark and go in after those crazy bastards? No, not the Army from Fort Irwin; nope, not the Inyo swat team; not the CHP. That's right, our own DVNP Rangers. And they took 'em alive, without firing a shot.

Yeah, not very funny. But a good story to think about...
