David, thanks for the photo; in Paher's excellent Nevada Ghost Towns & Mining Camps he has this concerning Carrara: "The townsite was officially dedicated early in May 1913, and the celebration that day included a dance with music by a band from Goldfield, a baseball game and swimming in the town pool." Could that be the swimming pool rather than a fountain? Maybe a rather small swimming pool. The block at the edge of the structure could be a step. Is the structure made of marble?
