Carrara Marble

Here is a photo of a display of Carrara marble at the museum in Beatty. I was surprised at the feel of it, smooth and heavy.
Lingenfelter, pages 404-406 doesn't actually say where the marble was shipped, but I think I recall some other publication saying some of it shipped to San Francisco and used as the flooring of some building.
Town fountain described in Lingenfelter also. It was highly touted but in reality very humble. He also states the fountain served as an impromtu swimming pool.
