When I go to Death Valley, I usually stay in Beatty, Nevada. I have gotten a strong roaming signal with my Sprint phone from Beatty until I get over the mountains on the Death Valley side. I had to stop the car on the way out to Chloride City so my wife could take an important business call, it would have been lost once I went over the ridge. The person she was talking to got a laugh when she told him where she was. If you're approaching Death Valley from the south, Sprint coverage between Barstow and Las Vegas is limited to near the 15 freeway. Death Valley is simply too remote to rely on cellular coverage.
