I grew up going to the beaches and mountains for city getaways, and for some reason, I thought that was it - that was where you go if you want to experence beautiful scenery.

Well - Some years back, I went to Death Valley with my buddies not really expecting much other than a good time drinking with the boys. I mean, what could possibly interest me in a desolate place like DV? Little did I know that I would soon experience the most beautiful environment in the world.

We camped at Mesquite Springs in a 34 foot long rental RV, and I was not only blown away with the surroundings, but with the solitude. It was awesome. Late in the afternoon we drove to the Racetrack and that was where I fell in love with this place. It was late in May and there was a full moon. There were no clouds, no winds, no people - just us. I can remember laying down on the Racetrack staring up at the stars thinking "it just doesn't get any better than this". Yep, this was the place to be.

Death Valley never ceases to amaze me, and it never will. It is truly Heaven on Earth.
