Expansion of Gold Exploration in the Panamints

Since The California Desert Protection Act of 1991 specifically excluded certain proposed wilderness areas in the Western Panamints so as to allow for future mineral exploration and development - principally by Canyon Resources Corp., operators of the Briggs Mine; and in spite of the BLMs Enviornmental Assessment currently being commented upon, the permit to further explore for gold is a done deal. According to Canyon Resources' website, the BLM has showered that company with acclamation for their commitment to the enviornment. If money talks, gold screams!
