I think I know the you're talking about. I investigated it a few times a few years ago. It goes nowhere, but to you're "borrow pit." Perhaps it was used in South pass road construction? But, interestingly, there is what appears to be a connnecting road from the Lee Flat/ Nelson Range area. Thinking they would have, or used to connect, (makiing a 'Southwest Passage' into Saline Valley) I investigated that road, too, a few times, but this second road just ends in an interesting overlook into Saline Valley, from much above your "borrow pit."
