Dan and Dan, thanks for the replies. I have read the road descriptions and I have tuned into he Morning Report. Our orignal plan was Lippencott and the Racetrack becuase we had all heard about it. That's still on the list.
I'm starting to get a feel for the potential weather/road conditons we could encounter February 1st, thanks to you and this forum. Correct me if I'm wrong but, it's not unreasonable to expect the conditons could allow a trip up Lippencott to the racetrack - or maybe not. This goes for other passes too. In other words, don't rule out these routes, just watch the conditons as the time nears. I was afraid we should just forget about some of the places you mentioned.
I still need to stare at my map a bit more to uunderstand more about the places you suggested. A couple looked very interesting and consistent with our desire for longer loops with interesting sites along the way.
I'll likely have more questions once I get more homework done. ;-)
