For those of us who do not have DSL, these photo galleries are a problem. It takes so long to resolve the photographs, I almost never look at them. I have friends who send me lots of photographs and they (the pictures, not the friends) rapidly come forward rapidly so I know rapid viewing is possible.
I suspect the people who post pictures on this site want their pictures sharp and crystal clear—good goal but meaningless if a lot of your audience bails out before the pictures are downloaded.
Authors have a mantra: Am I trying to parade knowledge or am I trying to impart knowledge. There is a parallel corollary for photographers: Am I trying to impress people with my technology or am I trying to visually communicate? Communication is vastly superior to self-aggrandizement. LeRoy
