My daughter and I hiked to Panamint City last October. Beatutiful hike, had the place to ourselves, did not encounter anyone the whole day. Was her first time there, I have been there many times, drove my '62 VW bus up the canyon in '72.
Too bad the enviro whackos closed the road. Noticed one of "those lovers of the environment" created a carving in the rocks at the falls which read "is there no limit to human stupidity" or some similar drivel, apparently to impune the folks who liked to wench their cars up the falls. What an irony, I saw absolutely no evidence of vehicles having been there (the road had been closed for a year), but the "environmentalist" carving will last for decades. What a bunch of hypocrites!!!
My young daughter learned an valuable lesson about the "sierra club" bunch.
