If you are looking to stay in a "formal" campground, I've always thought that the Mesquite Spring campgound is the nicest and most out of the way. Be prepared as it is 50+/- miles to the store at Furnace Creek. I've always liked the campgound at Ballarat, although it is basically a gravel parking lot (I just like the area). The best campimng sites are where you make them in the back country.
