"Best" is dependent on what your requirements of it would be. If you have some ideas as to how you plan to use it, then please post those. If you are a beginner, without much knowledge of GPS receivers, then you are probably well off starting with an entry level unit like the Garmin Etrex (base model). This can be found for around $115 (+S/H).
