While my camp light and sleeping bag have been essential on most of my many back country camping trips, some solo some with others, I have never been in a situation where a gun was necessary. Maybe I've been lucky. I guess it takes just one time when it is nessesary to make carring it all the other times worthwhile. It seems like there are many everyday circumstances that are a threat to my well being that I am more worried about.
