The site suggested isn't really backcountry, but you should be well-prepared and have a high-clearance 4wd vehicle with AT tires if you really want to get into the more remote areas. The official National Park Service info on backcountry camping (w/map, no GPS) is at the link below. There are several established campgrounds (ranging from dry camps, primitive facilities, and full R/V hookups) in DV, but you can also camp in most backcountry areas if you get far enough off the main road. The first-come, first served cabins in Butte Valley might be worth checking out. If the cabins are occupied, you can make your own campsite.
