I've never had any problem with any ranger in the park. I feel that the $50 I spend on my annual NP pass is perhaps the best bargain offered by the US government. I know there are people who feel they have special privliges and they should not pay any fees, but I don't have any problem paying them. I guess it's a matter of your own personal ethics.
