ask the rangers how to get to Fossil Footprint Canyon, its, i think, 1.4 miles north of cow creek. its also listed in Explorers Guide to Death Valley by betty tucker and bryan ..... and can be found at the visitors center.
its about a long mile from the road and there are footprints of the camel, tern, cat, and wave or water actions. you would have to hike beyond the cyn to find a camp site i think, but it isnt far.
have fun with the kids.
if you see a red with white top geo flag me down and we will take you on some hike. maybe from chloride cliffs to keane wonder mine.
