There are plenty of junk cars all over Death Valley, from the south at Ibex Springs to the Panamints to the northern parts. The only problem is that I cant think of a single one that you can get to without a 4Wheel drive or hiking. If you are carrying large format then you wont want to hike to far. Personally I love the mining ruins, but again you need a way to get there. The Borax Museum at Furance Creek has a train, ore cars and all kinds of machinery to take pics of.
Sunset on the Black Mountains makes for good pics, sunrise/sunset on the sanddunes, Mosasic Canyon, Grotto Canyon all make for great pics.
If you want to get to the old car ruins you will need a 4x4.
Pleasant Canyon has some of the best junk cars of the area.
If you want some ideas of places to photograph, 90% of the desert ghost town pictures on my website are found in the Death Valley/Panamint Valley/ Saline Valley area.
