I'm so glad to hear you're still out here in the desert lands. I was one of many writers/journalists who stopped to chat with you over in Ballarat while you were there with your dogs (Red and I think a couple of others). I very much enjoyed sitting out on the porch with you, knocking back a beer and just talking about the desert. I remember you were waging quite a war for awhile against some company blasting out the side of the hills and taking over Shoshone land. Can't remember all the details, but I do remember how frustrating it all was.
I'm living in far SW corner of Vegas nowadays, still writing and working as an anthropologist. I'm a lot closer to Death Valley than I used to be when I was living up in SF, so I'm spending a lot more time there exploring the canyons.
I'm so sorry to hear about the vertigo, although I'm glad to hear you can still get around town. I'm not that far from Ridgecrest and I don't mind making the trip. If you ever want to get out to the Panamints or elsewhere you let me know. I'd be happy to pick you up and drive you out there. Well, I'm heading up to Canada for a couple of weeks, figure I'll take my chances with the SARS and the Mad Cows. Take care and please keep in touch, Michelle
