This site is not too bad for a non-moderated forum. Sometimes it is not what people say but
how they say it. I have been traveling in various
deserts in the west for the last 15 years and
desert virgins do tend to do some stupid things
sometimes. I can't tell you how many newbies I
have rehydrated over the years. How many street
tires I have patched for newbies. How much medicene I have handed out for unprepared people.
Heck I even carry feminine products in my kit and
they never last more than a year in the kit box.
And number one on the desert virgin hit parade...
Water. I do think people could be nicer about this sometimes but they do have a valid point. The desert kills if you are not careful and all of us prepared people end up bailing their butts
out of all kind of situations. I do not mind but
the tourist driving on the rock roads in a street
car with a couple of quarts of water and a half
a tank of gas is getting old to me. The desert
eats fools and alot of fools are in the desert.
