Joel - I know everyone is describing the conenose bug, but I don't think that's who was biting you lately - conenose bugs are brown and larger than ticks. I had a group in DV this weekend and we were bitten by little black bugs the size of a tick. I didn't look closely- just thought they were "no-see-ums"? Active around dusk. We got hit both at Furnace Creek and in Eureka around dusk. Pesky little critters!! At least the bite doesn't continue to itch like a mosquito...
