Harold, In the books "Fremont - Explorer for a Restless Nation" and Harold Steiner's "The Old Spanish Trail", both sources indicate that the Carson-Godey Indian reprisal ocurred at Resting Spring on The Old Spanish Trail (about 7 miles north of China Ranch). The spring was known at time as Archilette Spring. The spring is on private property now, operated as an Arabian horse ranch. But the oasis can be easily viewed from the highway heading east out of Tecopa.
