ADVANCED NOTICE: The 7th Conference on Death Valley History and Prehistory is to be held February 3-6, 2005 at the park headquarters. It is sponsored by a consortium of non-profit, government, and private enterprise all interested in the Death Valley area—the Death Valley ’49ers Inc., Death Valley Natural History Association, Shoshone Museum, Death Valley National Park, and Furnace Creek Inn and Ranch Resort.
The purpose of these conferences is to encourage original research on the human history and prehistory of the Death Valley area and to disseminate that research to the public through oral presentation at the conferences and publication of a paper in the Proceedings. Conferences include about 18 papers plus a field trip, and many of the presentations express the need to protect the sites associated with our history and prehistory.
