I should add: Clamper hoaxes are typically aimed at fellow Clampers. The Drake Plate is a shining example. It is one of those hoaxes that got out of hand and all but destroyed a noted scholar (Dr. Bolton, UC, Berkeley).
I doubt the Clampers planted the trunk; yet, the fact remains that one Clamper—in writing—fingered a fellow Clamper. The bunk trunk is an excellent hoax but the problem is innocent people's lives were destroyed.
