One of the local Piutes told me the way up was from the Owens Valley, a 2 day hike. He also said men go up....never come down. I know what that means in Piute. They dont like the BLM much! Anyway some 19 years later, this ol desert dweller is contemplating a return journey by foot.Looks like I will have to do my homework and shoot for May 2005. A hike of this stature will require excellent physical condition as well as good planning. 7 days on the mountain sounds about right. There is water up on top in places.
