Hey Birdman: Glad for a new subject, and so I will go a little farther off base. I live in the Central Coast, and make the same route every time. The quickest takes me through Bakersfield. I remember one year, around 99, when I got about fifteen miles out of bakersfield on 58, going through the foot hills when I went over what must have been a seasonal dry creek. Looking in both directions across the highway that went through tan, dried grass, was a river of purple flowers. When I made it finally to dv it was a great wild flower bloom. I've taken the same route many times since, but have not yet again seen the river of purple flowers. Hope this spring will be a good one.
