Here are some additonal comments by the long-term resident of the Panamints and his adventures with a water line.
"Harold: I failed to mention that when we installed our water pickup
point
at the juncture of three springs, we first had to rerouting the water
to
one fixed point because it had splitted into several different streams,
and the vegation was quite green below. Our lower pickup point dried up
during the hot summer days because the vegatation was drinking the
water.
When we consolidated the upper pickup point into one stream the
vegetation
below it didn't do so well as we were using more water than it
required.
It certainly didn't take us long to figure that out. What took so long
was
getting off my ass and packing in the line."
