you have recieved good advice. dont try to do too much, many miles between stops. it could be very warm, or even downright hot. carry extra water.
as for hiking check the DEATH VALLEY HIKERS ASSOCIATION. we usually do a 20 mile overnight hike on a weekend twice a year. usually apr and nov. we have very easy hikes.
