I have AT&T which generally gets very good coverage in DV area. EXCEPT when I'm in range of that damn AT&T micro tower on top of the Owlsheads. I think it is for a private signal (military?) because, although I get a 5-bar signal, any number I try (including 911) yields a busy tone!
Same thing happens from various peaks north of the Owlsheads, such as Rogers Pass (sometimes I can lock on to a Nevada AT&T signal) and on Gold Hill. My buddy with NexTel has no trouble from these same peaks.
I'm OK to the south of Owlsheads, such as along the road, until I drop down Owl Canyon. I get no signal along the road by Lost and Owl Lakes.
