My point is....nobody knows that the bandit was the one that stole the vehicles. It is not his M.O to steal a car and drive in a circle and leave it where he would be tracked. He has no use for a vehicle, obviously, as he was able to elude law enforcement while running on foot.
My point is also... is there harm in taking the canned green beans that Scooter dude left in the cabin 8 years ago?
There is a possibility that there is a two bit thief who steals, and a back country naturalist who is getting the blame. If the Bandit can live with the wild, he would not leave weapons and ammo out for some overweight ranger to simply pick up and carry off. Most of the Rangers could not find their ass if it had a bell tied to it. Sounds like the thief holed up in the Butte with his loot, then left. Along comes Mr. back country, and he is getting guns pointed his direction, and off he runs.
My point is merely this..... there are no all points bulletins with the name of him because Butte bandit has no criminal record and did not steal anything but canned beans that were left to be used as Targets. I would hate to hear that an innocent person was hurt by a wanna be hero hunting the Bandit.
Maybe it is time to relax with the Butch Cassidy and the Sundance kid hunt. The guy is long gone.Let the law enforcerment do their job, and do not encourage anybody to get hurt or in trouble by arming themselves in a national park.
