On Monday, April 5, Jean and I made a one-day loop trip to the Racetrack from Bishop. Came in from the north and exited over Hunter Mountain.
The steep grade up to Hunter Mountain was littered with boulders and almost all (some huge) were rolled off the track (thanks!). Over the summit plateau some adventurous jeepers had gone through earlier in the week and unavoidably left deep sinuous tracks. There were four mud holes THAT WOULD BE IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THROUGH WITHOUT 4-WHEEL DRIVE (which we had).
DO NOT ATTEMPT A CROSSING WITHOUT 4-WHEEL DRIVE AND SOME BRAINS. We never saw another vehicle crossing Hunter Mountain (in late afternoon). LeRoy
