To tow a rental car, you would have to use a clamp-on-tow bar which will scratch the heck out of the plastic bumper covering. If you rent a Jeep, you stand a better chance of not scratching the painted bumper. Also, there is probably a provision in the contract that your insurance is null and void if the rental vehicle is being towed. So, if you tell them that you are going to tow the vehicle, they probably will not rent it to you.
