Sounds like you had a good time. It is a great trip. Try it in the fall for the pine nuts.
I have been doing that trip for 47 of my 51 years.
The original Burgess Mine home is gone. It was burned down 15 to 20 years ago. Some suspect BLM. The current claim holder built a new cabin, which was improved on by a couple of Deer Hunters. The original cabin was next to the hill and the new one is next to one of the old mine sites that had an oar cart and rail lines.
A lot of the side roads have been closed.
Did you get to the Lone Pine overlook and Burgess well. I know BLM tried to close those roads a few years back.
