Back in January (and every other time we've stayed there) there was an inexpensive kids menu, $1.50 beer on tap, and quite good burgers, fried chicken etc.

On 4th of july we ate there with friends we were showing around death valley and were shocked to see:

no kids menu
$3 beer in bottles and cans
AWFUL food. I mean really awful. like the cook quit and the bus boys were microwaving. Peppery, hard as leather chicken, beef sandwich smothered in really horrible brown gravy...pretty much inedible.

Waitress was nice, replaced totally inedible "rice pilaf" with a potato. the potatos were okay.

also noticed the place was remodeled some, not an improvement.

regret not sending just about everything we ordered (There were six of us) back.

OTOH, formerly awful furnace creek ranch deli had great sandwiches this trip. could the cook have left the exchange for FCR?

Wish we could've had time to get to Panamint!
G
