That was actually Rob's brain which expired when he willfully drove into a vicious thunderstorm in the desert. He's still "low-functioning" and wants the California Department of Transportation and the California Highway Patrol to provide him with a new brain.
If they see fit to do so, I hope they give him "Spock's Brain."
