I wish I kept today's Inyo Register (Bishop, CA) so I could quote it verbatim. But I'll pass on the gist of it.

There was a letter to the editor in today's issue of a participant in a recent public meeting regarding a movement in recent months to turning much of Mono County and Owens Valley BLM lands into wilderness and closing lots of roads. The letter writer mentioned that she asked a lot of questions and got not many answers as to why or other details. This particular group has maneuvered much in the same manner as the Center of BP in the past months - quietly move in, set up shop and then dump what will now be fact onto the unsuspecting public. She did manage to get out of the proponent and spearhead of the group as to his occupation - he's a land developer who has turned much of Mammoth Lakes prime meadowland into condominium complexes and a golf course!

I'm no expert, but I feel there's big money in this stuff, folks! These people have found that by making issues, they can afford their Lexus SUVs and townhouses. They have to generate causes to keep the big money rolling into their pockets. But at our expense. Sad state of affairs.

And Tumbleweed pointed out simply but bluntly another facet of the oxymoron and hypocracy.
