The only volcanoes I know of in Death
Valley are cinder cones. There is a nice one near the south end of the valley. It erupted on the Death Valley fault (think of the fault as a zone of weakness). Subsequent movement of the fault has split the cinder cone into two halves. The road below Crowley Point, dropping into Panamint Valley (Highway 190) cuts through a cinder cone. More cinder cones in Saline Valley.

The craters up at Ubeheebe are believed to be steam explosions caused by groundwater comming into contact with hot material (similar to the Inyo craters near Mammoth).

There is evidence of volcanoes in the geologic record, but it sounds like you are interested in the classic volcanoe-shaped volcanoe.
