As far as I can remember, the only campgrounds that take reservations are the Furnace Creek CG (NPS), the Furnace Creek Ranch CG (concessionaire) and Panamint Springs (private). If you want hookups, they are available at FC Ranch, a few at Stovepipe Wells, and Panamint Springs. Furnace Creek is better located for a first timer, but Panamint Springs I'd also recommend (but a pretty long drive to the "main" attractions).

If you are willing to camp without hookups, then there are campgrounds available at Furnace Creek
(Furnace Creek, Texas Spring and Sunset CGs), Stovepipe Wells, and Mesquite Spring (north end of park). Panamint Springs also has camping with and without water hookups.

You should always be able to get into Sunset CG, but be aware that it is nothing more than a HUGE parking lot. OK if all you want is a place to eat and sleep, but kinda short on ambience.

Hope this helps,
Art
