Please do realize that not ALL people with a
4wd vehicle, that may bring their vehilcle with them to enjoy Death Valley, leave new scars upon the desert landscape. Nor do all people with a 4 wheel drive solely use their vehicle to explore, and not hike. I consider my vehicle the way to GET to many trailheads not easily, or in a reasonable time frame even possible, to get to.
And to get to places not already far overloaded
with peoplw, like the campgrounds. There is a
respectful, low impact way to off road.
But truly my point is this - there are those who
will damage the wilderness thoughtlessly, no matter how they get there, and those that will
not.
Holding steadfastly to assumptions and sterotypes
harms us all.
