The blown fuse part concerns me. I drive an '02 Tacoma 4x4 TRD. I've used my truck compressor plugged into the power outlets numerous times without problems so far. But you know the old addage - what can go wrong, will. Both truck and compressor are new, a few years down the road I don't want to have needless trouble.

What is meant by "non replacible?" There is no simple access or does the power point have to be replaced?

I like the idea of modifying the compressor to connect directly to the battery. Was this a simple cut the wires and disgard the plug and replace with battery clamps? If so, a simple snip and solder. Might lengthen the cord also to make up for the power supply further forward (the cord is quite long, it's great for blowing up the air mattress while it's in the back of the truck).

It hasn't been mentioned, but most jump starters on the market have a 12v power point or two, allowing cordless airing. Don't have one of those gagets yet, but I hear nothing but good things about them (especially the higher amperage ones), was skeptical when I first saw one.

When getting into the dirt and I'm going to travel considerable miles of it, I drop my pressures down to 20psi and have not had any trouble to date yet with the stock BFG (non-All Terrain TA) rubber (will be putting on TAs as soon as the OEM rubber is tired - it's getting there, 20,000 miles on the truck now). I don't travel fast off road anyway and crawl carefully over rocky areas instead of plowing through.
