I had a chance to speak with Joel yesterday about South Pass. He said the same thing; “HC 4WD vehicle is needed to travel on South Pass. He took several pictures of the washed out areas and stated they are nasty, but navigable. Fill will be required to fix these areas up. North Pass will be closed for some time. It just can’t be repaired with out bringing down heavy equipment and new flood piping.”
He will post a complete South Park road condition write up Sunday evening with pictures.
Steele Pass and Lippincott Rd are still nice drives and provide access to Saline Valley. You still need a 4WD HC vehicle to use them. Hunter Pass is still open and a very easy ride and does not require 4WD.
