I use a truck air type 12v compressor I bought somewhere. Much faster than my old auto type compressor. Useful for inflating my air matress I sleep on in the back of the truck when camping. I use one of those 12v jumper batteries w/12v outlet for ease instead of unwinding the darn power cable - they are a pain to rewind and stuff back in their place.
A friend of mine, who has a 4x4 truck w/collapsing camper set up for expedition (he's been from Chili to the Aleutians) has a scuba tank set up mounted inside the wall of the camper he uses to air up his tires. Very quick. Since he lives near the coast and often camps there, it's easy for him to keep his scuba tank ready.
